Professional Sober Mentor & Travel Services
Anyone in early recovery can relate to the challenge of maintaining sobriety or remaining clean while traveling alone and scheduling quality time off. Recovery can be especially daunting for the ambitious high achievers who otherwise excel in their fields but fall prey to the consuming power of addiction. Affliction of addiction is merciless, wicked and all-encompassing and should be treated as such. Simply put, very few are able to remain "ever vigilant" against it while simultaneously navigating the many hurdles life throws. Personally, I have yet to meet an alcoholic or addict who is smart enough, educated enough, tough enough, rich enough or powerful enough to overcome it with any of those elements being the basis of their strength.
The above lesson(s) have come to me at a great personal pain and cost. For the first three years in recovery, I shunned air travel and vacations unless I was under the constant careful eye of a no-nonsense strict sober monitor & mentor. Looking back, I can say with certainty that every penny I spent on my protection was more than worth it as the music of the tinkering in-flight beverage trolley or the beckoning seductive comfort of a warmly lit airport lounge would have been virtually impossible for me to resist. It would have spelled the end of my new-found sobriety, nipping my recovery in the bud.
As a "give-back" or "pass-on" gesture, in addition to providing low-cost subsidized sober living/transitional living homes in the US and vacation residences in Spain & England, I offer my services as a sober travel companion & mentor at nominal costs whenever I can. I have witnessed firsthand the devastating effects and aftermath, not only within normal average men and women, but equally as much with those of incredibly high intelligence, potential, financial resources, socio-economic status, etc. Addiction and relapse unfortunately do not discriminate…
“Get Sober - Stay Clean - Help Others - Be Happy”
Truly relating to the all-consuming power of addiction requires empirical knowledge. It cannot be verbalized nor academically described or taught through lectures or textbooks. Addiction is a feeling, an overwhelming inner force that defies logic on every level! It is an insatiable craving with a sinister grip on one's mind, body and soul, and just when you think you have it all figured out and in check, watch out! When a child touches a hot stove for the first time it is a pretty good bet that he or she will never do it again, but that type of logic-based reasoning is what leaves people within the vicious cycle of addiction.
Below are just a few photos of the properties and the exterior scenery at a local 12-Step meeting hall near one of the subsidized Michigan Sober Living Homes. The process of devoting my life to sobriety has brought me gifts and blessings which I have chosen to dedicate toward helping others. I see a major distinction between mere happiness and true joy – the feeling of seeing a newly recovering addict/alcoholic experience that moment in time when the light comes, when the inner spirit re-awakens to the beauties which life offers at its most core level! The happiness of a good meal is great, but the joy of witnessing one’s spiritual growth and perseverance through their journey into sobriety is priceless…
If there are others who would care to experience the freedoms and joy that were so graciously shared with me then I would be truly honored to be a part of your recovery. Whether your needs consist of sober coaching or mentoring, transitional sober living housing, travel companionship & coordinating, access to private sober European vacation residences or even just a friendly ear to listen and help…my passion is to help.
I welcome all calls, questions and emails. The gift of sober guidance and mentorship was afforded me when I was at my worst, after years of suffrage which brought about a complete lack of hope, and I am dedicated to passing along that same gift!
Blessings…
